 Meeting Of Turkmen Intellectuals – 11
The 11th of the Meeting of Turkmen Intellectuals that is periodically organized by ORSAM was held on December 25, 2010 in the ORSAM conference hall. The interest showed to the meeting where the objectives of the Turkmen people were discussed was very high. Besides the Turkmen Associations and Foundations Representatives, the Leader of the Turkmeneli Party Riyaz Sarıkahya and the Turkish President Abdullah Gül’s Chief Adviser Erşat Hürmüzlü also participated in the meeting. And also in the meeting, it was declared that in order to make an consensus, to organize common works and to reinforce the unity and solidarity the Turkmen Non-Governmental Organizations in Turkey founded all together the Turkmeneli Federation and the committee of preparations have already started the works. The session moderator of the meeting was the ORSAM Adviser Habib Hürmüzlü and the speakers were:

- Executive Board Member of the Turkmeneli Cooperation and Culture Foundation Prof.Dr. Hişam DEMiRKÖPRÜLÜ,
- Turkmen Artist İsmet HÜRMÜZLÜ,
- President of the Turkmen Intellectuals Association Fuat TİGİN,
- Turkmen Researcher and Writer Cengiz EROĞLU,
- Representative of the Student Union Ali ÜSEYİN. Habib Hürmüzlü, in his opening speech, stated that the Turkmen have perceptual problems at determining the objectives and their national identity (Turk or Turkmen), but the word of Turkmen has been adopted. Saying that another concept where the Turkmen have problem is “Turkmeneli”, Hürmüzlü indicated that the concept of Turkmeneli has not been yet much adopted in Iraq. Emphasizing finally the importance of talking about the Turkmen as a society or a nation, Hürmüzlü told that when the Turkmen are taken into consideration, the individuality stands out; but talking about the Turkmen as a society presents a more integrated feature.
