WORKSHOP ON SECURITY PROBLEMS IN AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN IN ORSAM

On February 19th 2010, in ORSAM, a workshop on “Security Problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan” was carried out with participation of ORSAM Specialists, Strategic Studies and Research Center Specialists, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Han from Istanbul University, and Researcher Esedullah Oğuz. The workshop, which lasted for all day long, involved productive and satisfactory discussions related to present security problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the repercussions of these problems, and future projections in this context.     

During the discussions, optimistic and pessimistic scenarios related to future of Pakistan were mentioned, and it was indicated that Pakistan and Afghanistan are in a key location in terms of regional and global security. The locations of Pakistan and Afghanistan, in terms of both regional and global security, were highlighted once again, and the contributions Turkey could make for stability and security in both countries were brought to agenda. The workshop found an end upon the evaluation of  interaction of problems between the two countries.
