The Center for Strategic Studies of the Qatar Armed Forces visited ORSAM

A delegation from the Center for Strategic Studies of the Qatar Armed Forces paid a visit to ORSAM on 17 February 2015. Colonel Jamal Saleh Al-Riashi and two researchers took place in the delegation headed by Brigadier Rashed Hamad Al-Naimi, President of International Studies of the Center. Host delegation consisted Assoc. Prof. Şaban Kardaş, president of ORSAM, Assoc. Prof. Haldun Yalçınkaya, Director of ORSAM Security Studies, Assit. Prof. Bayram Sinkaya, ORSAM Advisor, Bilgay Duman and Oytun Orhan, ORSAM researchers.
 
The meeting began with opening speech of two presidents. ORSAM President Kardaş explained how ORSAM look at the recent developments experienced in the Middle East and Turkey’s position regarding the developments in Iraq, Syria and the Gulf. Then the latest developments in the Middle East in the framework of the Qatari delegation questions were discussed. In this section, recent developments in Yemen and their possible effects to the Middle East, risks for the region that created by the foreign fighters, emergence of ISIS and how to fight against it and Iran’s growing influence in the region were discussed. The meeting ended with addressing cooperation between the institutions.
