A MEETING WITH AK PARTY YOUTH BRANCHES

On March 24th 2010, a meeting was held with Mehmet Erdoğdu, Vice-Chair for the Ankara Youth Branch of AK Party, along with the delegation in ORSAM. After the AK Party delegation was informed about the activities of ORSAM, the reasons underlying behind the fact that the youth in Turkey is not much interested in issues related to foreign policy were handled, and views were exchanged on what should be done in order to raise the interest. During the talk with the members of the delegation, ORSAM Director Hasan Kanbolat made evaluations on development process of think-tanks in Turkey and their present situations, and he drew attention to the way the state institutions and organizations and bureaucracy perceive non-governmental organizations. Moreover, during the meeting, ORSAM Specialists informed about the agenda coming to forefront especially within the scope of political process in Iraq and Israeli policies, in the Middle East. And they put an emphasis on the importance of following these processes closely both by decision-makers and by the public opinion.
