A Workshop Water Issue in Turkey-Iraq Relations

A workshop titled "Water Issue in Turkey-Iraq Relations" was held on Wednesday, 15 March 2017 with cooperation between ORSAM, Nahrain Center and Iraqi Embassy in Ankara. Iraq Water Resources Minister Hasan El-Cenabi participated in the workshop as the keynote speaker. In addition, diplomats, bureaucrats and academics from other countries have participated to the workshop. During the workshop, the following issues were primarily addressed:

• Water's importance on bilateral relations
• Importance of Tigris and Euphrates rivers to Iraqi people
• Bad water policies in Iraq before 2003
• Impact of ISIS presence on water management in Iraq
• Situation of Iraqi water infrastructures and improvement projects
• Management of irrigation waters in Iraq.
