KRG Parliament Delegation’s ORSAM Visit

A delegation of the representatives from 8 political parties and undersecretaries of the parliament of Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government visited Turkey as the guests of ORSAM on 17-20  April 2016. The delegation included representatives from KDP, PUK, Kurdistan Islamic Union, Kurdistan Islamic Group, Kurdistan Islamic Movement, Iraqi Turkmen Front, Christian Assyrian Movement, and 3 undersecretaries from the IKGR parliament and the undersecretary of the Department of Justice.

A closed workshop was conducted in ORSAM within the visit and brought together academicians, politicians, bureaucrats and specialists from Turkey. Besides, the delegation of IKRG Parliament met with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy General Directorate for Relations with Iraq, Prime Ministry Directorate of Foreign Relations, TBMM Committee on Foreign Affairs, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, Prime Ministry Directorate General of Press and Information, Turkish Red Crescent, and AK Parti Directorate of Foreign Affairs. In the meetings, IKRG’s expectations from Turkey were expressed, and the issues, such as Turkey’s Iraq policy, Turkey’s relations with IKRG, problems regarding IKRG and Iraq domestic policy, fight against terrorism particularly ISIS and PKK, and the problem of refugees were discussed. The steps taken towards development of Turkey-IKRG relations also became one of the main topics of the meetings.
