ORSAM and Sakarya University Institute of Social Sciences organised a workshop entitled “Turkish Foreign Policy and Middle East”. Researchers and academicians from different cities, particularly from Istanbul and Ankara, participated in the workshop. The meeting was held in the conference hall of Sakarya University Institute of Social Sciences on 4 April 2011.
Kemal İnat was the moderator of the first session. In this session, the following presentations were made- “Turkey and Middle East” by Muhittin Ataman, “The Post-modern Revolution in Eygpt” by Tuncay Kardaş, “The Approach of Turkish Press on Middle East Revolutions” by Sevinç Özcan, “What Does Latin America Think About The Middle East Revolutions?” by Ebru Afat, and “How Does Palestine Get Affected By Middle East Revolutions?” by Mesut Özcan.
In the second session chaired by Muhittin Ataman, the presentations were made on “ The Humanitarian Intervention in Libya and Turkish Foreign Policy” by Cenap Çakmak, “The Perception and The Planning of Turkish Foreign Policy” by Ertan Efegil, “The Increasing Importance of Commerce in Relations Between Turkey and Its Neighbours” by Mehmet Şahin, “The Turkey-Iran Relations” by Bayram Sinkaya, and “The Turkish Foreign Policy and Iraq” by Serhat Erkmen.
In the third session moderated by ORSAM Director Hasan Kanbolat, the following presentations were made: “ International Systems and Organisations in Consideration of The Developments in Middle East” by Alâeddin Yalçınkaya, “Revolutions in Middle East” by Veysel Ayhan, “EU Middle East Policy and Turkey” by Muzaffer Şenel and “Is Fuel The Sole Reason of Intervention?” by Ahmet Öztürk.
