The Workshop entitled, “Political Developments in Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government and the Future of Relations between Turkey and Iraqi Kurds”

The Workshop entitled, “Political Developments in Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government and the Future of Relations between Turkey and Iraqi Kurds”, was organized by Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies (ORSAM) in Ankara and attended by the Goran Party in Ankara on August 15, 2013.  

The Workshop, of which the opening speech was made by ORSAM Director Hasan Kanbolat, was held in two sessions: The first session was held under the title of “Political Structure in Iraqi Kurdistan, and Goran Party's Approach”. Lecturers of the first session, coordinated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nihat Ali Özcan from TOBB University of Economics and Technology Department of International Relations, are listed as follows: Goran MP in Iraqi Parliament and Parliamentary Group Leader of Goran Party Dr. Latif Mohammad, Assist. Prof. Dr. Burak Bilgehan Özpek from TOBB University of Economics and Technology Department of International Relations, Coordinator of Political Research Center in Goran Party Dr. Ako Hama Qarim, ORSAM Advisor and Head of the Department of International Relations at Ahi Evran University Assist. Prof. Dr. Serhat Erkmen, and Member of Political Research Center in Goran Party Dr. Mohamed Ali.              

The lecturers of the second session under the titles of “Political Developments in Iraq, Energy, and the Relations Between Turkey and Iraqi Kurds”, coordinated by ORSAM Advisor Assist. Prof. Dr. Serhat Erkmen, were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şaban Kardaş from TOBB University of Economics and Technology Department of International Relations, Member of Goran Political Research Center Dr. Darbaz Mohamed, ORSAM Specialist Bilgay Duman, and Goran MP Candidate for the KRG Parliamentary Elections Dr. Serdar Azez.     

The lecturers made presentations under the titles of; Assessment of Democratization Process in KRG, The Historical Background of Opposition in Iraqi Kurdistan, Political Balances in KRG and Expectations on Near Future, Solution Offers of Goran Party For the Main Problems in Iraqi Kurdistan, The Relations with KRG Within The Framework of Turkish Foreign Policy, Upcoming Iraqi Elections, New Political Balances in Iraq In the Light of 2013 Elections. Also, academicians, bureaucrats and journalists attended the workshop.
