Turkish Youth Council in ORSAM

On September 15, 2010 a round-table meeting was held in ORSAM with the Turkish Youth Council (TÜGEK), which is a roof organization for the undergraduates who are studying et different departments in Turkey. In TÜGEK delegation, Kemal Gülpınar (Foreign Policy Coordinator-Ege University), Doğan Çelik (Hacettepe University), Alper Uslu (Celal Bayar University), Esra Coci (Kafkas University), Kadir Çetin (18 Mart University), İsa Ateş (Kocaeli University), Süleyman Gök (Selçuk University), Hasancan Türkoğlu (Celal Bayar University), Hayati Küpeli (Hacettepe University), Fatih Kırşanlı (Atatürk University) and Engin Semerci (General Coordinator-18 Mart University) participated in the meeting.

Kemal Gürpınar who gave information about the studies of TÜGEK, stated that they were studying Turkey's foreign policy vision and the process of making constitution, and that for this purpose the youth congresses continued in various cities of Anatolia. Indicating that Turkey should fill the power gap taken place in her near abroad after the Cold War and that she should continue her growth in the regional systems carefully, Gürpınar notified that in this process, they wanted to establish direct relations with the university youth in countries in the region. Gürpınar, who remarked their intention of reaching up to the youth in Southern Caucasia and in the Middle East to that end, indicated that they wished for benefiting from the experiences of ORSAM for their activities in the Middle East.  

And the Director of ORSAM, Hasan Kanbolat emphasized that TÜGEK's efforts for establishing close relationships with the Middle East countries with which Turkey's inter-communal ties are not strong enough, are quite valuable. Kanbolat stated that the preparations for the project aiming at bringing Turkish-Middle Eastern youth together continued, within this framework primarily Syria visit was planned, TÜGEK could participate actively in this project, and that the project scope could be extended in the following stages.
