Nurullah Çakmaktaş
He is a faculty member at Marmara University, Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries Studies, in the Department of Middle Eastern Sociology and Anthropology. He completed his master’s and doctoral studies at the same institute. During his PhD, he was a visiting researcher at Tufts University (U.S.) for one year, and during his postdoctoral period, he was also a visiting researcher at Utrecht University (The Netherlands) for one year. He received his associate professorship in Area Studies/Middle East. His research mainly focuses on contemporary religious-political thought, and more specifically on religious radical thought produced in the Muslim world. He has conducted studies on religious-political groups in the Middle East, Salafi movements, and religious radical thought.
