Feyzullah Tuna Aygün
Aygün graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Bahçeşehir University in 2015. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in studies on the Middle East and democratization as part of a cooperation program between Syracuse University and Bahçeşehir University. Additionally, through the Erasmus Exchange Program, he took courses at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland on Polish history, contemporary Russian politics, and Central Europe’s perspective on the Middle East. He also took graduate-level courses at the Institute of International Relations at Hacettepe University and the Institute of Security Sciences at the Turkish National Police Academy.
Aygün began working at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORSAM) in 2016, first as a Research Assistant in the Iraq Studies Department and later as an Iraq Studies Expert. His area of expertise includes Iraqi politics, security, and society. During his tenure, he conducted field research in various regions of Iraq, including Baghdad, Kirkuk, Erbil, Najaf, Karbala, and Mosul. He also conducted studies on the Turkmen community in Jordan. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, he served as an international observer in the Iraqi parliamentary elections in 2018 and 2021, and in the Iraqi Provincial Council elections in 2023.
He has published numerous articles, analyses, and reports on platforms such as ORSAM, the Washington Institute, and Rudaw. His writings focus on Iraqi politics, Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG), Turkmens, and regional security issues. He has participated as a speaker and attendee in many conferences, symposiums, and workshops at both national and international levels.
