Cemil Çiçek

Biography

Graduating from Istanbul University Law School, Cemil Çiçek started his career as a freelance lawyer. Ciçek became one of the founding members of the Motherland Party. He was elected mayor of Yozgat province in 1984 local elections. In 1987 he was elected as representative from Yozgat, and later he has elected from Ankara. He has continued his political career under the AK Party since 2002. During his political career he served as Minister of State, Minister of Justice, and Deputy Prime Minister. He was elected as Speaker of Turkish Parliament in 2011 and 2013.
