The Yemen Issue: A Step Toward Regional War?

On November 3, 2009 Shiite Houthi forces in northern Yemen once again accused the Saudi regime of militarily and logistically supporting the Yemeni Army, indirectly declaring war against the Riyadh regime. US air power was also involved in the civil war as the Houthi forces kept their position despite the cooperation between the Saudi Arabian and Yemeni governments. Concerns that the Yemen issue is evolving into an international problem are rising as US forces continue to bomb Houthi localities and launch air operations against Al Qaeda elements in southern Yemen. This study deals with the crisis in the Arab Peninsula and focuses on the Yemen issue, which will most probably lead to further instability in the region.
